Reduce
your Calories, fat, saturated fat and cholesterol by:
- using 1% milk or nonfat milk in
place of 2% milk.
- using low fat or nonfat cheese
in place of regular cheese.
- eating fresh fruit or nonfat or
low fat ice cream or low fat frozen yogurt in place of high fat or gourmet
ice cream.
- replacing high fat meats such
as pepperoni and regular ground beef with low fat meats such as fish, skinless
chicken, turkey breast, extra lean (9% fat) ground beef. Prepare meats
without adding fat such as baking or broiling.
- limiting egg yolks to 3 per week
or using a low cholesterol egg substitute
- using nonfat or reduced calorie
salad dressings and mayonnaise.
- choosing lower fat items when
eating out, such as a grilled chicken sandwich in place of a quarter pounder
with cheese.
Increase
your vitamins, minerals and fiber by:

eating more fruits that are good
sources of Vitamin C such as oranges, grapefruit, melons and strawberries.

eating more vegetables that are
good sources of Vitamin A such as green leafy vegetables, broccoli, carrots
and peppers.

eating more whole grain cereals
and fruits and vegetables to increase your fiber.
Plan for daily physical activity
such as walking, running, swimming, cycling, roller blading or aerobics.
